The official 1.0 notes connect specific goals to Expedition Alpha, Overtime and other activities. They do not provide enough XP totals to name a fastest mission farm.
Choose a mission by the result you want
There is no single “best mission” for every player. The 1.0 release notes give specific objectives and unlocks, so start with your goal and then choose a mission that directly serves it.
| Your goal | Mission or activity | What the source confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Rescue the new employee | Expedition Alpha | The Mycologist is rescued there. |
| Unlock the Shocklance | Overtime Assignment | The 1.0 notes say completing it unlocks the weapon; the mission can be played on Threat 4. |
| Fight dense enemy groups | Population Control | The 1.0 notes describe it as clearing areas of high enemy density. |
| Earn employee XP from side content | Side objectives, Incursion rooms, or Paid Time Off objectives | The 1.0 end screen shows employee XP from these sources. |
| Try a run-based challenge | Ouroboros | It is a separate mode; its backlog tasks appear after you unlock the mode. |

Use the current mission screen
In 1.0, the game added recommended-mission popups for new players and improved the end-of-mission employee XP display. Check the objectives, threat, and modifiers shown for the mission you are about to start. If your goal is an unlock, use the named mission above instead of choosing by an old XP multiplier table.
Side objectives can matter beyond XP: the 1.0 notes also say completing them increases the chance to receive Lottery Larry tokens. That is a stated reward chance change, not a guaranteed token per objective.
Why this page does not name a fastest XP farm
Older community videos give XP formulas and threat multipliers, but those numbers predate 1.0 and have not been compared against current missions. The official 1.0 notes confirm which XP sources are shown on the results screen, not total XP per mission or XP per minute. Compare like-for-like runs in game before treating any route as optimal.
For region-specific directions, see the separate Gravity Farms map page.
